The Blade Runner connection...

In one side we have Blade Runner an 1982 American dystopian science fiction action film directed by Ridley Scott, in the other side we have London an 2013 Portuguese deep house music produced by The Halfgame.
What do they have in common, probably nothing, but I believe this is a cool way to start a post.

Now seriously, London was produced in the first place having in mind a deep house vibe. As the song creation progressed I got stuck without any convincing grove that could enhance the music. The primary theme was there with a deep strong beat a great voice buildup and percussion twist. But then no matter how much I tried no sound seem to fit the mood of the track.

Days passed and I was unable to progress, stubbornly the sounds refused to appear. I was very disappointed with my lack of inspiration moreover because I knew this music had an awesome vibe and just needed one more sound to unlock the complete grove.

After some frustrating attempts and when I was almost ready to give up on my unsuccessful masterpiece, something interesting happened. Almost by accident and in a desperate effort I stumble on a sound that fused automatically and teleported the music to an all new level.

Now here is where the Blade Runner reference enters. This sound gave this track that spacey, cyber-punk vibe reminiscent of the 1982 American dystopian science fiction action film directed by Ridley Scott. This retro vibe really complemented the music in perfection giving it a very original vibe. Finally I was able to complete the track and share it with the world.

And you know what? Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time.

House music with a twist...

“Spring Love”, my most recent production, is a simple house music with a twist. This track begins with a very simple four tempo beat that is complemented with a soft afro vibe.
As the music progresses and new sounds are added to the mix it becomes clear that this is a very difficult track to fit into a specific genre or style of dance music.

This clubish house music gains its strenght on the mix of synth sounds that varies from french house sintesyzers to a more american house vibe loops.
This mixtures of styles give this music a very unique groove that sets it appart from any other track that I’ve produced so far. I dont know if it is the slow tempo of the synth loops or the lack of the jazzy vibes that are a trademarks for most of my productions.

Your opinion is very important to me and I would like very much for you to leave your comments and thoughts about my work. Please feel free to post them, all will be welcome.

For now I’ll leave you with my last prodiction hopping that you enjoy.

Cheers,

Deep Down memory lane

“Deep Down” is my latest production. This progressive tech House music relies on strong beats and deep house synths. Originally this music had a very strong distorted bass sound, but as the track progressed I had to remove it. There was some kind of displacement on that sample that didn’t really fit the groove.

After that the music was totally redone and then it became what it is now.
There’s also a 80´s vibe deep buried inside that wasn’t intentional but turn out to be very surprising and gave this track some kind of unique vibe.

There’s a long break in the music that was used to reduce the monotony of the track. In that break you can hear a French voice sample that reinforces that deep house vibe. That´s a very impressive voice sample that I wanted to include in this track no matter what.

This track was produced using as inspiration some of the late 90’s tech house and deep house tracks that were very popular in those days. I really enjoyed producing this music and revisiting some of those wonderful memories. I even included, just for fun, a small sound sample from one of my favorite late 90's records. See if you can discover what it is.

Intimate Grove - African Vibe

“Safrique” is my new production, an intimate grove with an African vibe.
This track is built in two distinct parts separated by a big music break.

The first part is where the memento is set with a gradual increase of sounds and intensity. This section of the music relies heavily on deep and somewhat emotional tunes raging from Deep House, Trance and African beat.

The big break that occurs halfway into the music is used not only to increase the emotional link with the crowd but also to prepare them for the second part of the track.

Here a mix of Jazz is introduced to give some personality and originality. This also creates the illusion of freedom as if the repetitive vibe of the music that was present until now is broken by an eruption of oxygen.

This track is so far one of my favorites and really touches me at a personal level.
I Hope you really enjoy listening to “safrique” the same way I enjoyed making it.

It’s a beautiful day

And then one day, we wake up feeling we need something different.

I woke up at 07:15 this morning with some bad cramps, and I asked myself. - Am I getting old to the point that all of my hopes and dreams will never succeed?

I sit on the bed and look around and see four walls that suddenly feel strange to me. I’m all alone in this deserted room, its cold and all that I can hear is the humming signal of my turnoff TV.
I get up and walk in the direction of my bedroom window. Normally I would open the window’s shutters and let the sun in, but today I feel like leaving the world outside.

I walk out off my bedroom seeking some comfort in the freedom that the silence of the morning gives but immediately after exiting and closing the door on my back I feel the urge to turn back inside.
As I desperately turnaround and exercise my return to the safety of my prison I hear a sound coming from the other bedroom.

I stop for a moment as hopping that the sound is nothing more than a winter blow trying to force its whispers trough a small crack in a window.
I walk silently in the direction of the bedroom’s door and as I get closer I can hear a familiar sound getting louder.
I notice that the door is semi shut and although this may seem strange I feel a comfortable feeling of its displacement. As if it was intended and the whole purpose was to leave it open.

At this moment I know what I have to do. I open the door using all my ninja abilities and try silently to invade this dark and privy temple.
Inside I notice a small person figure lying down on a small bed moving very slowly as if awakening from a longtime sleep. I approach warily hoping not to scare this darkened figure step by step until I reach close enough to stretch my hand and touch the small person face.

As my skin reaches her chick a smile aluminates the room as if longing for my comfort, this small figurine as motivated by my actions says – I love you dad.
I lift my daughter in my arms and together we open the bedroom windows shutters, and guess what…

...It’s a beautiful day.

Hope You enjoy.
